Invisible Braces

Perhaps you feel that you don't have the straight smile you always wanted? Or maybe you went through traditional orthodontics as a teenager, but are disappointed that the teeth have moved again in adulthood?

Invisible braces or InvisalignGO® might be the solution you need.

How Does Invisalign Treatment Work?

This treatment involves using a computer prediction of the desired alignment of your teeth to produce a set of clear plastic aligner trays. The patient wears each set for about two weeks and then changes to the next set in the predicted sequence to gently move the teeth into their new smile.

The aligners have many advantages:

  • They are discreet, which is perfect if you would rather people not know you are undergoing orthodontic treatment. Adults, in particular, often find clear aligners more aesthetically pleasing than the appearance of traditional metal braces.
  • They are comfortable with no metal brackets and wires to cut or irritate your cheeks and tongue.
  • They are removable, so you can eat normally and also brush and floss easily.

For teenagers and developing or complex bites and misalignments, we are well-connected with exceptional local orthodontic specialists. Please come and see us for a comprehensive examination and assessment. It is important to have your best oral health prior to starting any orthodontic treatment.

Benefits of Clear Aligners

If you’ve been dreaming of a straighter smile but want to avoid the look and feel of traditional braces, clear aligners might be the perfect solution. Clear aligners like Invisalign can gently shift your teeth into place. It has many benefits!

Discreet and Virtually Invisible
Clear aligners are made from transparent, medical-grade plastic that fits snugly over your teeth, so most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them. They’re great for adults and teens who want to straighten their smile without the look of traditional metal braces.
Comfortable and Removable
Unlike fixed braces, clear aligners have no wires or brackets, which means less irritation to your cheeks and gums. You can also remove them to eat, brush and floss, which makes it easier to maintain oral hygiene and enjoy your favourite foods without restrictions.
Predictable, Customised Results
Clear aligners in Norwest, NSW, are designed using advanced 3-D technology to gently and gradually move your teeth into place. We tailor each set to fit your unique smile, so we can expect predictable progress and fewer in-chair adjustments compared to traditional orthodontics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Proper care of your clear aligners is essential to keep them clean, clear and working effectively throughout your treatment. Fortunately, caring for them is quite easy and simple.

First, always remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. This prevents staining, warping and food particles from getting trapped.

After eating, we strongly encourage you to brush your teeth before putting the aligners back in. Doing so helps prevent plaque buildup and keeps your aligners fresh and bacteria-free.

Please also clean your aligners twice a day using a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, which can warp the plastic. You can also use a gentle, clear liquid soap or an aligner-cleaning solution (available in most dental care aisles or through your Norwest dentist). Avoid toothpaste, as it can be abrasive and cause scratches that make aligners look cloudy.

Store your aligners in their protective case whenever they’re not in your mouth. We recommend avoiding wrapping them in napkins or leaving them out, as they’re easy to lose or accidentally throw away.

What Else Do I Need to Know About Invisalign and Clear Aligners?

You will need to have the self-discipline to wear your aligners for a minimum of 22 hours of the day. Treatment may be slowed or unsuccessful if the aligners are not worn for the recommended time every day.

You do need to be a suitable candidate for clear aligner treatment. However, you can trust us to advise you if we feel that it is in your best interests to refer you to one of our local specialists. Once the alignment of your teeth is complete, you will always need to wear clear plastic retainers at night to keep the teeth in the new position and prevent them from moving back.

Will My Health Fund Cover Invisible Braces?

Every fund, and within each fund, every level of cover will have differing rebates for orthodontic treatment. When treatment planning for Invisalign at Willow Dental Care, we will be happy to give you item numbers to check with your fund.

Trios 3-Shape Scanner - No More Impressions!

Our 3D Digital scanner is an exciting addition to the Norwest practice for the team and patients. Previously, to make retainers, mouthguards, teeth whitening trays, crowns and night splints, we required goopy impressions in trays that fill your mouth. Now we can simply scan over your mouth with the Trios wand and comfortably get all the information the lab needs to make these appliances.

At Willow Dental Care, we are thrilled to now offer Invisalign® in Baulkham Hills using our Trios scanner for our patients looking to straighten their teeth quickly and simply.

The Trios 3-shape scans can also track changes in your teeth over time, such as wear on your teeth from grinding or movement.

The amazing smile design feature of the Trios 3 scanner shows a forecast of what your teeth could look like after cosmetic treatment such as composite or porcelain veneers.
