The Step-by-Step Procedure

During your consultation, we’ll explain the extraction process, answer your questions and ease your mind about this straightforward treatment.
Here’s what will happen on the day of your procedure:
- First, we’ll completely numb your mouth so you won’t feel anything. And if you choose nitrous oxide, we’ll administer it before we begin.
- If one or more of your wisdom teeth are impacted, we’ll need to make a small incision in your gums to expose your tooth.
- We’ll remove any bone that keeps us from accessing your tooth’s roots.
- If necessary, we’ll cut your tooth into sections to make removal easier.
- Using special dental tools, we’ll gently loosen and remove each part of your tooth.
- We’ll clean and disinfect the empty socket to prevent infection before repositioning your gum tissue and stitching the area.
- You’ll bite down on gauze to control the bleeding and encourage blood clot formation.
